An experienced and professional Mistress of Belly Dance—the ancient Middle Eastern dance form of rhythmic accents, rippling undulations and emotive gestures—Melusina has taught in the US, New Zealand and throughout Australia.
Enriched by childhood ballet and expanded through regular training in Latin, Ballroom, Ballet and Contemporary dance, Melusina's personal style mixes impeccable technical skill with passion, musicality and a strong emotive presence. Her dance is "an experience of great exhilaration". She is best known for her expertise in scimitar sword dancing, her innovative Tribal Fusion style (she is artistic director and creator of the Tribal format "Red Belly Black", used by dance troupes around Australia) and her expressive Classical Egyptian technique; and she regularly uses zills, veil, cane and Isis Wings in her performance.
Melusina's choreography and many of her routines have been praised for their originality and beauty. She is a principal dancer and teacher at Underbelly Dance, and has worked in film, television and music video.
Previous gigs: Recent international work includes a US tour with Solace (2006) and an Egyptian tour including training with Egyptian master choreographers and dancers including Mohamed Reda and Nour and a performance in Cairo (2007).
